Warmth is one of man’s oldest natural healing methods. It alleviates very many symptoms. Care is nonetheless called for when applying warmth. Everyone senses warmth differently. Everyone responds to warmth differently. What for one individual is ‘too little’ can already be ‘too much’ for another. The final decision on the frequency, duration and intensity of infrared treatments should therefore be left up to your personal feeling of well-being.
Cabin air temperature
The thermally neutral ambient temperature varies from one individual to another. Here is a rule of thumb: for an unclothed, large man or corpulent person, temperatures between 30 and 34 °C may be considered ‘thermally
neutral’. A thin, small-boned person in contrast requires between 35 and 37°C.
Test several different temperature ranges and take your cue from how your body responds! You can pre-heat your Physiotherm infrared cabin if necessary.
The back heater
No generally valid standard setting exists for the back heater either. The specifications listed for intensity and session duration are only meant as approximate recommended values. There is no such thing as ‘right’ and
‘wrong’. Right is what for you personally feels right. And your body usually tells you rather reliably what feels good. But your personal condition can also vary from day to day. Thus, you are the only one who can discover your individual setting for a sense of well-being. The “visual analogue scale” can be of some help in finding the right intensity setting for you personally. On a grading scale of 1 to 10, a grade of 1 stands for “I feel no warmth” and a grade of 10 for “it’s too hot”.
The original Physiotherm control unit has a precise intensity control which allows you to adapt or change treatment at any time to suit your personal feeling of well-being. Set the intensity of the back heater so that your sensation of temperature corresponds to a grade of 8 on the scale at the most. You should never experience a slight ‘burning’ or ‘tingling’ sensation. Please note that the scale on the control panel does not, of course, correspond to the subjective grade given by the “visual analogue scale”.
Please note:
Drink a glass of water before and after every infrared treatment.
Adjust heater intensity according to your personal feeling. After the treatment, freshen up, at best with a short, lukewarm shower.
