This is how Physiotherm’s deep infrared warmth works: Physiotherm infrared cabins have special ceramic tubes filled with lava sand that radiate mostly only infrared C at 300 – 320 °C, with just a small proportion (about 3%) of infrared B radiation. First, the skin blood vessels in the back expand under exposure to heat radiation. The heat, absorbed by the blood and the lymph fluid, is transported to the deeper layers of tissue. Beginning from the spinal region, by way of the circulatory system the heat is then distributed inward, so that heat gradually penetrates the whole body. At a normal cabin temperature of about 30 – 38 °C, the body is easily able to dissipate excess heat to the environment. In this way, treatment puts no noticeable strain on the cardio-vascular system. This form of deep infrared warmth, which reinforces the body’s natural heat regulation mechanism, is very pleasant. The body is thus warmed thoroughly, “from inside out”.
